The Path, the Room, and the Window
Second Year StudioRichard Misrach is a photographer interested in capturing the environmental issues associated with society’s dependence on oil. One of his most famous portfolios, Petrochemical America consists of his documentation of Louisiana’s Cancer Alley and its surrounding communities. From Petrochemical America, I studied Misrach’s Batture photograph in order to design a studio with this photograph being his primary view. The landscape had no roads leading up to that point, therefore it was clear that the path Misrach must take to arrive at his studio would be by boat.
